Chevron Scarf

I finished my Chevron Scarf last night and immediately put it on. I've been wearing it non stop! I wore it to work today and everyone is like:

"Why are you wearing a scarf? - It's like 80 degrees!"

"It's my summer scarf!" I said.

Everyone just kind of looked at me funny....

But I know I can count on my blogger peeps to appreciate it! Here it is - My Chevron Scarf!

Chevron Scarf

Stats:

Pattern - Made up variation of the Jaywalker.
Cast on 33 stitches.

Yarn - any

Needles - size 7 for worsted weight (or any other size needed for your gauge)

dd = (double decrease is slip 2 knitwise, knit 1 - pass slipped stitches over),

Row 1 - Knit 4, yo, k1, yo, k4, dd (slip 2 stitches knitwise, knit 1, pass slipped stitches over), knit 4, yo, k1, yo, knit 4, dd, knit 4, yo, k1, yo, knit 4.
Row 2 - Purl 1st 2 together - Purl to last 2 stitches - P2tog.

Yarn - 6 different balls of Koigu - two different yarns at a time - knitting a knit and purl row with one yarn - then switching to the other.

This scarf has been an obsession for me - I knit on it everywhere I went! I am very happy with how it came out!

I will now overload you with pictures!

So pretty! I love the way that the colors are so randomized, yet they all seem to work together.
(I'm all for summer scarves... my office is freezing!)

So, wait, you used 6 different colorways of Koigu? What a great idea! And it looks wonderful, too.

I love it...and you put my chevron to shame!

Yep. As I said on flickr, I'm absolutely ripping the little I've done with the LL and going with your version. Yay! I absolutely love it.

Bah... non-knitters just don't get it. ;)

You must have been pretty close to finishing on Monday. It looks great!

Gee Jody, with all those colors, you'll never have to ask "Does this scarf go with this blouse"! What a pretty way for folks to knit up leftovers of sock yarn since you alternate yarns every two rows anyway.

yay! Congratulations on finishing it! Will you wear it next time you eat peanutbutter ketchup pickle sandwiches?

I don't think I could ever wear a scarf in the summer, but it is lovely.

Love it! When you had it as your picture of the day a few days, I just saw it and sighed, it was so pretty.

Love, love, love, love, love, love it!!!
The colours are magnificent! I want one too.

I was looking for a Chevron pattern to do up and now I've found one! Mine won't be Kiogu but some verigated cotton..

Thanks for sharing your pattern!

So very pretty! May I ask, about how much yardage did it take? While I'll probably not do it in Koigu, as I'm a new knitter and don't have much stash to speak of, I do, however, have a lovely ball of Millefili Fine variegated that would look very pretty in that pattern. Maybe I need to buy another, or several. See, perhaps I'm just looking for an excuse to build a stash! ; )

PS, I found you through Ravelry!

I love your version. I look forward to making my own with Socks That Rock :)

I found your pattern via Ravelry several weeks ago and have wanted to make it since. I just cast on today using some new sock yarn and some old stuff that was supposed to be Jaywalkers. Thanks for another idea of how to use the loveliness that is sock yarn - for something other than socks!

Wow!! This is....just fabulous! I used to knit when I was 8 but that was just kid's play. This really makes me want to take it up again! :D I just hope I can find quality materials here in Romania.

Georgous! I have some Tess SuperSock Yarn in varigated blue/purples I'm thinking of doing it in. You think that will work? As long as I use the instructions for sock weight?
Thanks for the pictures too.

Jody said...

Maddie1234 - Yes I think that will work. The colors sound lovely! You can always add repeats if you want the scarf wider.
Good luck!

I really like your scarf. I'm relatively new knitter and I tried your pattern but could not figure out how to knit the yarn overs without making holes. any tips?

Jody said...

Hi Jeneil! The yarn overs will definitely make holes. If you want a tighter look - try doing a kfb (knit into the front and back of the stitch) which also increases one stitch but without a hole.

Good luck!

wow ... sooo beautiful. love the color, love the pattern.
Wow ... you did a GREAT job!

How do you bind off the scarf?

wenona said...

I'm a non-knitter but I do crochet! I get it. It's beautiful! well done!love the pattern! colors are great! Enjoy your summer scarf!

To avoid holes do you kfb of Two stitches because you do two yo around the one knit stitch each time.

I'm running out of stitches when I'm almost to the end of row 1. I can't figure out what I'm doing wrong.

I am so confused on this pattern. Is row 1 and 2 all that makes up this scarf, or is there more? Love the look, but need help in getting it started,.

Mine didn't work out. Am I missing something. CO 33 stitches I did, I have holes in mine and yours does not. What am I doing wrong
